The finger sling

Is your bow hand always relaxed like mine? Then you will know the need for a finger or wrist sling is a must to keep your bow from falling on the ground upon releasing the arrow!

That’s why a good and comfortable finger or wrist sling can be so important!

What do we understand by good?

A good finger or wrist sling should not be too big or small. Too big can cause some “collisions” with your competitor archers on the shooting line. Too small and your sling will interfere with your shot process and will induce unwanted torque in your bow whilst aiming or/and the actual shot.

Why comfortable?

Well, if you’re shooting a high volume of arrows, comfort is key. When the material is too stiff or small (diameter) it can even cause some minor irritation or bruising. But be careful not to use materials that stretch, these will give you a lot of inconsistencies.

Make your own

Most archers will make their own finger sling out of a simple shoelace whilst there are plenty of standard or custom-made options for a good wrist sling. Some archers go a step further and make some very colorful finger or wrist sling with different patterns and designs.
